Stefan J. Simanovich, LCSW obtained his bachelor’s degree at NC State University and graduated with his Master’s in Social work at Columbia University in NYC. He holds his practice as an LCSW in the states of North Carolina, New York and Connecticut.

Stefan is a certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA approved consultant. He incorporates integrative therapies such as hypnosis, somatic experiencing, grounding practices, embodiment techniques, parks work, regression therapy and meditation into his work with others. Stefan completed his PL Regression therapy training with Dr. Brian Weiss, MD at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in New York.

Professionally, Stefan has held roles as a school social worker, psychotherapist, and clinician at a children and family-centered mental health clinic. In 2019, he opened his practice, Transforward Care, to expand access holistic, integrative, trauma-informed care for others despite income status, race, sexual identity, gender identity, legal history or background. Stefan’s intention opening Transforward was to create a space where people can access long term relief and healing, regardless of diagnostic histories.

Stefan has presented and taught in a variety of contexts, such as Yale University Department of Psychiatry, mental health non-profit agencies, Department of Education and legal spaces. Additionally, Stefan collaborates with people and legal entities as an expert to support people who are navigating the criminal justice system in the face of trauma histories and identity issues.

He has built his career on developing frameworks, education and interventions that are trauma-aware, self-empowering, holistic and honor the significance of “the holism of gender” to emotional/mental health and development.
