Stefan J. Simanovich, LCSW, earned his bachelor's degree from NC State University and subsequently graduated with a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. He is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) authorized to practice in North Carolina, New York, and Connecticut. Stefan is also a certified EMDR therapist and an EMDRIA-approved consultant. His therapeutic approach features integrative therapies, including somatic experiencing, grounding techniques, embodiment practices, hypnosis, parks therapy, regression therapy, and meditation.
He completed his Past-Life Regression therapy training under the renowned psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss, MD at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in New York. Stefan's professional background encompasses roles as a school social worker, psychotherapist, and clinician in a children and family-focused mental health clinic. In 2019, he established Transforward Care to provide holistic, trauma-informed care aimed at addressing disparities in healthcare quality related to race/ethnicity, income, gender, and sexual identity.
Stefan's vision for Transforward Care is to create an environment where individuals can achieve long-term healing and relief, irrespective of their diagnostic backgrounds, identities, and past experiences. He has shared his expertise as a presenter and educator in various settings, including serving as a clinical instructor at Yale University’s Department of Psychiatry. Additionally, he engages in collaborative work as a forensic social worker, partnering with attorneys and professionals to assist individuals who have legal issues related to sexual offenses, trauma and gender identity challenges.
Throughout his career, Stefan has focused on developing frameworks, educational resources, and interventions that are trauma-informed, self-empowering, and holistic, while emphasizing the significance of “gender holism” to emotional health and identity development.
